The Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, stated on January 9, 2009 that they will never accept anything less than a full end to the occupation of Palestinian land and people. AAMB stated that the resistance will continue so long as the occupation continues, and that it rejects any so-called decision or international initiative that does not end the siege and open the border crossings, including the Rafah crossing.
AAMB further affirmed that it will not return to the humiliating 2005 conditions imposed upon our people, noting that our people will not hand over control or sovereignty to the occupier, nor will we be held hostage. AAMB stated further that it is continuing the resistance, alongside and arm in arm with the united Palestinian resistance of all factions, against the enemy's continuing crimes against our people.
AAMB targeted numerous occupation cities since Friday morning with rockets and mortar shells, including hitting the settlement of Sderot with two Sumoud rockets. All Palestinian resistance forces continued to bombard the occupier with over 30 rockets and missiles throughout the day, underscoring the utter ineffectiveness of the occupation forces' massacres at ending the rockets of the resistance.
Palestinian resistance forces further reported the death of three Israeli soldiers and the injuring of several more in Beit Lahiya, as they attempted to occupy a home.
AAMB reported numerous clashes with enemy forces, including in Beit Hanoun, and firing short-range missiles at Sofa military facilities east of Rafah, and firing a small anti-tank missile at an Israeli tank in Atara, as well as launching 100-mm mortars at military equipment and occupation soldiers near al-Zaytoun. It also joined with al-Nasser brigades to shell occupation forces with 4 mortar shells near Atara.
AAMB saluted all of the struggling Palestinian resistance forces and the high level of unity and coordination in the face of a brutal enemy, which is continuing to teach that enemy a lesson it will never forget. It also praised the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank, in 48 occupied Palestine and in exile, stressing that the Palestinian people is united in its determination to secure its national rights to liberation, return and self-determination.
