Shalit seriously injured by shrapnel and being transferred, sources report

Sources in the Palestinian resistance confirmed the injury to Gilad Shalit, the captured Zionist occupation soldier. Shalit was injured by shrapnel in one of the Israeli airstrikes that took place on Sunday, December 28, 2008, at approximately 2:30 pm as part of their ongoing massacre and brutal aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

It was reported that the Israeli military intelligence had intercepted calls between the special unit in charge of Shalit's security and its central command and had targeted its airstrike in an attempt to hit their location. Apparently, however, the occupation army failed to interpret the code correctly. However, sources say that they were able to transfer Shalit after medical treatment. The unit was able to provide first aid before he was transferred to an undisclosed area.

The unit in charge of Shalit's security communicated to all wings of the Palestinian resistance through the coordination channels for the military resistance forces in Gaza. Shalit's condition was reported to be serious, but full details of the seriousness of his injury were not disclosed to our sources.

The Palestinian resistance forces in Gaza have been training steadily in planning to capture additional Zionist occupation soldiers, particularly in the case of a potential ground invasion of Gaza. The resistance is committed to continuing on this path in order to secure the freedom of our over 11,000 Palestinian prisoners inside the jails of the Israeli occupier, and will greet any invasion with fierce resistance, in the face of the horrendous massacres and brutal crimes against our people.
